Karen Christensen, LPC-S, LSOTP-S, CSAT, CCRDS
Karen Christensen, LPC-S, LSOTP-S, CSAT, CCRDS, is the founder and owner of Rinnovare Counseling Center. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider Supervisor (LSOTP-S), Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), and Certified Connection Recovery Disclosure Specialist (CCRDS). Karen is currently pursuing certification in sex therapy as well as a Ph.D. in clinical sexology at the International Institute of Clinical Sexology, further deepening her expertise in the field of human sexuality and relational health.
With a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling, Karen is dedicated to providing confidential, focused, evidence-based, and individualized counseling services with a compassionate style aimed at empowering individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and transformation.
With a focus on creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, Karen helps clients navigate their challenges, heal from past traumas; and develop the skills needed for a fulfilling, balanced life and relationships. As an LPC and LSOTP supervisor, she is passionate about inspiring, mentoring, and guiding the next generation of mental-health professionals, fostering an atmosphere of growth, learning, and self-discovery.
Karen’s expertise includes treating problematic sexual behaviors (sex addiction, pornography addiction, and sex offending), betrayal trauma, and complex trauma. She also assists adults dealing with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and divorce. Her evidence-based counseling approaches include EMDR therapy, psychoeducational, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, experiential, and relapse-prevention techniques.

Dayjha Cheatham, LPC, LSOTP, CAMS-II
DJ is a licensed therapist with a specialized focus on helping adolescents, young adults, and families navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. Her clinical work centers on issues such as family conflict, emotional dysregulation, self-injury, suicidality, and complex custody dynamics. With a compassionate, yet structured, approach, she creates a safe and focused environment where clients can begin to make meaningful change.
Drawing from extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and play-based modalities, DJ tailors each treatment plan to meet the developmental and relational needs of her clients. Her therapeutic style is warm, direct, and insight-driven—balancing empathy with accountability to support lasting progress. In addition to individual counseling and group therapy, she offers anger management, psychoeducational, and skills training classes to promote real-world coping mechanisms and emotional resilience.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. In addition to her primary counseling license, she has pursued advanced clinical training to support clients facing complex emotional and behavioral struggles including anger management, risk assessment, risk management, and relapse prevention.
DJ has a deep interest in helping others explore, grow, heal, reconnect with self, and relate to others. She understands that this can only happen when clients feel safe, seen, and strong enough to express themselves. Whether supporting a teen in crisis or guiding a family through high-conflict transitions, she is committed to helping her clients feel equipped, empowered, and genuinely understood.

Carlee Rebstock, LPC Associate, ASOTP

Carlee is an LPC-Associate, ASOTP, under the supervision of Karen Christensen, LPC-S, LSOTP, CSAT. CCRDS, who brings a calm, focused presence to her work with adults, teens, and young adults. She provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore challenges, gain insight, and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Carlee has experience supporting people through a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and patterns of behavior that feel hard to change. Her approach is collaborative and flexible; She aims to meet clients where they are. Carlee draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based practices to best fit each person’s needs.
Whether she’s helping someone manage stress, rebuild after a difficult experience, or navigate personal growth, Carlee’s focus is on helping clients feel more empowered, balanced, and understood. Her background also includes working with individuals navigating complex circumstances, which has strengthened her belief that everyone deserves compassion, second chances, and the opportunity to heal.

Sarah Hernalsteen, LPC Associate, ASOTP

Sarah Hernalsteen, LPC-Associate, ASOTP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a Licensed Affiliate Sex Offender Treatment Provider under the supervision of Karen Christensen, LPC-S, LSOTP, CSAT at Rinnovare Counseling Center. Sarah holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is committed to providing individualized, evidence-based care in a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen and supported.
Sarah approaches therapy with empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and discover personal growth. She is passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, or religious trauma.
Sarah draws from evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other Psychoeducational methods. She is currently in the process of obtaining certification in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to further support clients in processing trauma and healing from distressing life events.
Abigail and Henry
Including animals in the therapeutic process can help increase trust, enhance the ability to bond, and reduce symptoms related to several mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and anger. Abigail and Henry are miniature Goldendoodles, which Karen owns and handles, who have earned Canine Good Citizen certification through The American Kennel Club. As trained therapy dogs, Abigail and Henry are available for Karen’s clients on request.
